Volunteers Raise The Antenna Tower (February 26, 2005) (additional photos as of 10-19-05)

Lots of smiles, except from teen-aged Chris, who is easily bored....
Brothers Dick and Jim prepare to steady the tilt-up tower.

General Manager Bill Balsley (KG6AIR) and Engineer Mike Irving (N6BYH) prepare the mast for antennas and guy wires.

The crew tilts the Tri-Ex Tower into place.
And,
just how tall IS that guy?

Rob oversees his father and the rest of the tower crew.

The tower crew gives a mighty heave-ho.
This is the heavy-lifting part of the day.

Susan stomps out mediocre radio.

Sterling adjusts a gigantic turnbuckle.

The first time that KVLP has a live dee-jay.
Hey, did he go down the hall again?

Richard prepares a length of 'manila coax'.

The guy-wire guys.

Mike N6BYH climbs the tower to attach the mast (leaning against the roof) and antennas.

Mike attaches his safety harness and gets to work.
The crowd below is in total awe.

Geez, if only Louis were 3-feet taller.

Rob supervises while Mike inserts the mast at the top of the tower.

Rob wonders how tall it's going to be.
Meanwhile, he adds yet another occupation to his list of 'Things I Don't Want To Do When I Grow Up'.

Bill and Mike pump up the volume!
(I mean, crank up the tower.)

Time for a little "Altitude Adjustment"
The Jims and Louis watch for the slightest booboo.

After the guy wires were finished, Rob announces to the crowd that the ON-AIR sign is lit, backed by some of the volunteers.
Dog-gone, but Joe Cocker sure looks good - thankfully he didn't 'perform' in the yard.
